NMDC DAV Residential Public School started on 17th August 2010 with a grand gala inaugural function in presence of a number of distinguished guests including Hon’ble Minister of steel at that time Mr. Veerbhadra Singh, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Dr. Raman Singh , an array of Ministers from Chhattisgarh Govt. , Chairman cum Managing Director of NMDC Ltd. Mr. Rana Som and Regional Director of DAV Schools, Chhattisgarh, Mr. O.P. Arora.  Initially, the school was started for the students of class I to III, enrolling 209 tribal students out of which 80students were hostellers and 125 students were day boarders. At present , the strength of school is 430, out of which 69 are hostellers and 361 are day scholars. The total strength of staff is 20(Teachers: 18, Clerk: 1 , Hostel Warden : 1)  NMDC-DAV Residential Public School, caters education to the children of such a crushed section of the society who are extremely poor, are getting education here, completely free of cost, and the whole expenses  from a penny to crores is being spent by NMDC. Such  deprived children are  being brought by a team of  NMDC Nagarnar officials[under CSR Activities] from very sensitive and remote parts of  tribal areas of Bastar, having followed a typical criteria which highlights not the academic merit of the children but the   top parameter is their extreme poverty so that the mission of the project could be achieved with absolute justification to the bottom line of the society for which the management of our NISP, Nagarnar  and Head quarters at Hyderabad all are dedicating unitedly for this noble cause.
